Inland Coastal Aquatic Club (ICAC)

We are a year-round competitive swim team offering training for swimmers of ages 5-18 under the direction of Head Coach Scott Lawson. We participate in swim competitions from novice to the national level and offer a positive and supportive training and growth experience for all of our swimmers. We currently practice at Palomar College Pool in San Marcos.

If you are interested in joining our team, the process begins with scheduling a tryout. During this appointment, Coach Scott will observe the swimmer to assess their appropriate swim group assignment, discuss expectations, and answer any questions you may have. Once your swimmer's swim group designation has been made, to join the team you will need to complete the Inland Coastal Aquatic Club (ICAC) Team Registration.

ICAC is a member of USA Swimming and all ICAC swimmers must become athlete members of USA Swimming (USAS) as well. To become a member of USAS, you will need to complete the USAS Swimming registration. The ICAC Team Registration will provide link to register for USAS.

Head Coach, Scott Lawson

 
Program Director and Head Coach Scott Lawson started swimming at age 5 and started competitive swimming at 8. He competed through high school and as a collegiate swimmer at Southern Methodist University and Texas Christian University. His coaching career started as a grad assistant at TCU and continued when he moved to California in 1985. He founded ICAC in 1991. Scott teaches Emergency Medical Education and Kinesiology at Palomar College. An avid surfer, Scott is passionate about all water sports, recently taking up paddleboarding.
 

Assistant Coach, John Bixler

Coach John Bixler grew up swimming for ICAC and now helps the next generation of swimmers learn to compete. Coach John instructs the Novice practice groups.
